Responsibilities

  • To act as the Owner’s representative to oversee all aspects of station and line facilities construction including interconnect, site work, status reporting, owner purchased material, monitoring safety, startup and commissioning, and project closeout
  • This position is responsible for the overall management of the assigned project area, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and quality goals
  • Employees in this role coordinate and report on the construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site
  • Review, Report, and Advise daily Project Construction Quality!
  • Conducts Daily quality Observation, audits, and verification of daily construction activities
  • Communicate nonconforming items to Quality Manager
  • Document Nonconforming items
  • Author and submit daily written report
  • Supports the management of the Project Quality Program (PQP)
  • Evaluates construction management operations from a strategic level to ensure that the PQP meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements
  • Develops and implements quality training and evaluation processes
  • Reports status of quality operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies
  • Implements and monitors quality metrics
  • Leads internal audits and external audits
  • Interfaces with the owner’s engineering and project management team
  • Monitors Contractor’s construction efforts from conception to completion

Various construction sites throughout Southwest America for the duration of projects (~18 Months).

Job Specifications for POWER Engineers

In order to oversee the construction of station and line facilities, including interconnect, site work, status reporting, owner-purchased material, safety monitoring, starting and commissioning, and project closeout, one must act as the owner’s representative. The general management of the designated project area falls within the purview of this role, along with making sure that quality, timing, and budgetary requirements are met. Workers in this position oversee and document the construction activity carried out at the project site by vendors and/or contractors.

Necessary Training & Experience

• Five years of experience building high-voltage substations or generating power

• Accredited field concrete inspector at ACI level II

• Capability of creating and overseeing Quality Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)

• Conduct observations and inspections of the soil, concrete, and steel based on blueprints, AWS, ACI, and ASTM codes and standards.

• Proficient written and vocal communication with both internal and external parties. It is necessary to be able to autoreport in-depth weekly reports.

• Have excellent communication skills and the capacity to communicate both up and down an organizational chart in a team environment.

• Outstanding attention to detail, organization, and time management

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

• Knowledge of construction tools and techniques.

• Civil engineering techniques and procedures

• The capacity to understand national building codes

• The capacity to decipher and comprehend blueprints and/or engineering drawings

• Quality assurance and/or control techniques and procedures

Required Competencies:

• CWI at AWS

• Experience with electrical means and methods

• Experience with structural means and methods

• Experience with Means and Methods of Power Generation Equipment

• Knowledge of HVDC building

• ISO 9001 QMS

• Internal/External auditor certification

• Startup and Commissioning experience

Job Responsibilities:

Evaluate, Report, and Provide Daily Construction Quality Advice!

• Performs daily quality audits, verifications, and observations of construction activities.

• Report nonconforming products to the manager of quality. Keep track of nonconforming products.

• Write a written report each day and turn it in.

• Provides assistance in overseeing the Project Quality Program (PQP).

• Assesses construction management activities strategically to make sure the PQP satisfies quality, integrity, functionality, and other requirements.

• Creates and puts into place high-quality mechanisms for evaluation and training.

• Reports to executive leadership and regulatory bodies as needed regarding the state of quality operations.

• Uses and keeps an eye on quality metrics

• Oversees both external and internal audits.

• Interfaces with the owner’s engineering and project management team
