By performing jump starts, unlocking doors, and giving visitors and the UAF community accurate and useful information, the Student Parking Attendants (SPA) serve to offer the university community with professional and timely service. The goal of the Student Parking Attendants is to provide the best possible customer service while enforcing UAF parking restrictions and promoting adherence to them.

These jobs will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The chosen candidates will serve the UAF community in a variety of ways and may possibly work on special initiatives as needed. In the Bursar’s office, the Student Parking Attendant (SPA) answers to the Operations Manager.

In order to succeed in this position, the Student Parking Attendant must have outstanding communication and customer service skills, including the ability to resolve conflicts; maintain confidentiality; be able to work outside in all weather conditions and lift or move up to 50 pounds by hand; be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision; be able to make consistent decisions and exhibit a professional demeanor while being honest and trustworthy in all required duties; be able to operate office machines (basic knowledge and use); be able to operate handheld devices and upload and download data to a database; and be willing to wear a uniform and maintain a clean and tidy appearance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Must possess and maintain a valid Alaska Driver’s License with an excellent driving history in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria, and can safely operate a motor vehicle adhering to all applicable laws, statues and policies.
Basic computer training

Applicant should be enrolled as a student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum of GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student, or the intent to enroll in 6 credit hours during the upcoming Fall 2024 semester.

PREFERRED:
Use of digital camera and ability to download photos.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time temporary student position, starting pay is $16.00 per hour, up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Compensation is commensurate with experience and type of work assigned. Additional hours may be available during winter/summer breaks.
